Happy Valentine's Day.  Couple of fun things to report today.  Yesterday at our Spay/Neuter Clinic a client brought in a stray cat that had a microchip.  We did our research and found the cat's owner and left a message on their voice mail.  The clients/finders were heart broken as they had grown very attached to this beautiful tabby girl who had endeared herself to them.  By the end of the day we still hadn't heard from the cat's owner and the finder didn't want to pick the cat up because they felt it would only be that much more difficult for their family to give her up - so we held her overnight assuming we would hear from the owner the next day.  Sure enough, the owner called first thing this morning asking about "Luna".  He told us that she was brought home by his daughter about a year ago after his daugher's friend rescued a free kitten, but found out she was allergic to cats.  Owner got kitty altered and m-chipped at one of the Petaluma Animal Shelter's spay/neuter clinics but she liked to wander and became very distraught after her male cat step-brother was hit by a car.    So, one day she turned up missing.  Fast forward to today - daughter has moved out and Dad is planning to move shortly.  When I asked him if he would be willing to give up ownership to the new family who adored her, he said YES!  The finder family were ecstatic to hear that they could keep kitty and they came in this afternoon to pick her up.
Certainly a happy ending!!
